Assignment 3 – Blog Post 3

This week we have created two character profiles which describe details about all the characters that will be featured within the promotional video and information about their personal lives. This information is vital to produce the promotional video as the producer and director need to be able to access this information about the cast who are involved within the video so they can insure they are suitable for the role they are playing. The character profiles also help the producer and director to form a closer relationship with the cast and crew as they will know more about them and will know what to expect in different situations. The character profiles may alter how the script is written for these characters for it to suit them or suit the way they work. Character profiles also allow the producer and director to be made aware of any special assistance that these cast members may require during filming to perform to their full potential.
We have also created a draft and final copy of the script that will be used during the promotional video to promote the festival and attract a local target audience. The script is persuasive and attracting to a local target audience to convince them to get involved. It will be Elizabeth and Lauren that present the promotional video using the script provided and the script will be divided evenly between the two cast members. The script has been designed to be chatty but also engaging to the desired target audience to get as many people involved with the advertised video as possible.
We have also created a costume and make up design with specific colours and explanations as to why we have chosen these designing and why we believe these will be appropriate for our promotional video. I have created hand drawn designs which include two detailed costume designs and analysis’ per personal in the video, alongside a face chart in which shows the make-up that will be used on each person, depending on the colours they are wearing.

A character profile and a script are both important aspects to the pre-production process of the promotional video because they help to make the video as engaging as possible which could potentially engage more people and encourage more people to become involved within the production of the festival.

Assignment 3 – Blog Post 2
This week we have constructed a risk assessment, contracts for all employees, a location recce and a budget all which will contribute to the final construction of the Chase Radio festival promotional video. We have completed these tasks in order to be a step closer to the final production of the promotional video that will be finally produced. All of these documents are being filed in an A4 display folder which can be accessed at any time.
The risk assessment in tales any potential risks that could occur during production and have been listed along with what to do if this happens. A risk assessment is vital during the production of the promotional video because if something goes wrong or a cast or crew member becomes injured in any way, help on how to handle this incident will need to found quickly by whoever requires it. This is also a legal document that has to be filled out for any production that is taking place in case of injury.
Contracts for all employees have been made which explains to the cast and crew the details of the contract that the sign. The details on every contract alter depending on the role that each individual is following. Details such as wages per hour and salaries per year are included on the contact. Hours that each person is expected to work is explained within the contract alongside with any holiday pay that they may need to take. Illness’ and termination of contract details are included within the contract and so is the extent of time that the personnel will be contracted to work for the production company, (e.g. 6 months). All of these aspects of the contract need to be explained in detail in each individuals contract so they all have a copy of the contract they are signing themselves up to and to ensure they are happy with the terms and conditions that are featured within the contract.
A location recce is also necessary during this production process because it includes all information and contracts that are needed when booking a location for the production to take place. The location recce includes various locations that are potentially going to be used for the production and the necessary documents that ensures that we are able to use these for our production. Images and annotations are included within this so that notes can be made on each location and why we have chosen it as a possible location for filming. A location recce allows us to justify our reasons for the location we have chosen alongside supplying any legal documents that are required.
Finally, a budget for the overall production cost has been created to give us an average spending amount for the production. The budget includes details about where money will be spent and why it is necessary for the production. The budget allows us to work out where and why money needs to spent on production, when it needs to be spent and how the budget will be distributed evenly across all money costing aspects of the production.
These documents allow us to have a clear view of where our production is heading and how it is going to take place in an organised way with all of the necessary legal and ethical documents that may be required throughout the production process.

Assignment 3 – Blog Post 1

This week we have begun the pre-production process for Chase Radio's summer music festival promotional video, encouraging the local people to get involved. We have begun doing this by creating a proposal form and client brief for this project along with research about the pre-production of a typical promotional video which will help us to create the best possible promotional video for our target audience and for the local people to feel engaged and want to be involved,
The proposal form that we have created will allow us to have a clear idea of what we want to do for this project and how we are doing to do it. We have included all the vital aspects of the video that will be included in order to engage a local audience whilst also pleasing the clients brief. These aspects include the music that will be playing in order to engage the desired target audience by including up to date music that is currently in the charts that the audience will be interested in.
The client brief explain the brief that we have been given by the client and what they are expecting to see within the video to appeal to the target audience. The client brief also includes a list of everyone who will need to be involved during the production of the promotional video and why they are required. This information has been found out from our earlier research.

This research, client brief and proposal form allows us to organise ourselves so that we know what we want to do and how we want to do in order to achieve the brief given. Our next task is to source the personnel and equipment that will be required for the video and some of this information can be found from the research that we have already found.
